At Covington Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, we provide high quality skilled nursing and therapy care to ensure a superior level of rehabilitation for our guests. In addition to skilled nursing services 24-hours a day, we offer a team of rehabilitation specialists, offering physical therapy, speech and occupational therapy up to 7 days a week. Our rehab program is dedicated to getting our residents back to their highest level of functioning as quickly as possible. Covington Manor utilizes state-of-the-art modalities in conjunction with more traditional techniques in order to provide the highest quality rehab services available.

Our therapy team is made up of physical, occupational, speech, and pulmonary therapists with experience in treating a variety of neurological, orthopedic, and medical conditions, including pain management, contracture management, and urinary incontinence management. Each patient’s rehabilitation program is designed to address the specific needs of the individual in order to allow them to return to their maximum independence. Family involvement in the rehabilitation process will be encouraged because we believe that family support and education are vital aspects in providing excellence in care.

AFFIRMA Rehabilitation, another Covenant Care company, provides the on-site rehabilitation services at Covington Manor. The AFFIRMA team includes licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists who have experience in treating many neurological, orthopedic, and medical conditions.

Physical Therapy
Our Physical Therapy Program is designed to address neurological, orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions, as well as other injuries and illnesses. Our Physical Therapy Team emphasizes balance, gait, transfer training, safety, coordination and strengthening, and pain management in an effort to help patients/residents achieve their highest levels of functional mobility. Our Physical Therapists are also involved in wheelchair assessment and mobility as well as wound care and prevention.
Services include:
- Gait transfer training
- Posture and body mechanics
- Therapeutic exercise and activity for restoration of strength, endurance and mobility
- Ambulation and use of assistive devices
- Wound care
- Electrical stimulation, ultrasound and shortwave diathermy
Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapy Program focuses on improving our patients/residents’ skills in the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Therapists work with patients/residents to maximize their potential for re-learning basic living skills such as eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, and cooking. Our Therapists help our patients/residents learn to cope with losses in ADL and physical functioning, through the use of therapeutic exercise and activity.
Services include:
- Activity of Daily Living (ADL) Retraining
- Wheelchair seating and positioning to maximum functioning and mobility
- Functional cognitive and perceptual retraining
- Contracture management and splint
- Euromedica incontinence program and home safety assessment
- Safety training
- Use of adaptive equipment.
Speech Therapy
Our Speech Therapy Program assists patients/residents in adapting and compensating to overcome problems with speech, hearing, comprehension, expression or swallowing. Speech Therapists can evaluate, plan and conduct treatment for speech deficits, voice problems, hearing and word pronunciation, difficulties to help patients/residents better express their needs and improve communication. Therapists work as a team with Dietary Department to address and improve feeding and swallowing concerns.

Homeward Bound Program
Our Homeward Bound programs restore individuals to their highest level of independent functioning by providing quality rehabilitation therapy equipment and services. We use most of the same equipment that is used on professional athletes.
Transitional Care Unit
Covington Manor’s rehab unit offers their patients 2 private transitional care units. These apartment suites resemble their own living environment. Patients can test the strength and stamina of their newly regained skills. We have found it much safer for patients to discover problem areas before leaving us, rather than when they are home alone. Family members can also stay with the patient to test their readiness to provide help upon discharge.
Pre-Registration for Rehabilitation
We are pleased to offer pre-registration for our rehabilitation services. You plan for an elective surgery, so why not pre-plan your recovery afterwards? Our pre-registration process is simple, includes a free in-home assessment (optional), and a workbook to guide you through pre-operative planning and post-operative recovery.
Covington Manor offers skilled short-term and long-term care, 24-hours a day, under the supervision of our Medical Directors or your attending physician. We provide comprehensive skilled nursing care using state-of-the-art medical equipment and progressive treatment plans promoting quality care.

Getting residents back to their prior level of community function is of the highest priority to us following a hospital stay due to diagnosis such as stroke, broken hip, generalized weakness, urinary tract infections and heart attacks.

The “Bed & Breakfast” Memory Care Unit at Covington Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center is a 24 bed specialized unit providing individualized care for those with the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease or other related dementia. The warm and caring staff are specially trained, and knowledgeable about the difficulties you and your loved one are facing. Our staff is dedicated to meeting individual needs in a compassionate, understanding manner. Our goal is to provide an environment that gives each resident a sense of confidence, belonging and trust.
