Throughout the year Villa Springfield Health & Rehabilitation holds events,
some major, some minor. The activities staff works hard to make sure our
residents have something to occupy their time if they so choose. This could
be from "every day" activities such as special movies, bingo, crafts, games…and so forth.
Sometimes we get to involve local community groups, youth groups, schools and service clubs.
(Thank you to all…the residents really enjoy the things you do)

Celebrating a Special Birthday

Mary arrived at Villa for rehabilitation from a hip fracture in mid-January, and her 104th birthday was February 7. Her daughter and son-in-law had to be away that week. It goes without saying that we would throw her a party…but we actually threw her two!
At the beginning, we doubted Mary would ever walk again. But after a few days with our therapists, Mary began taking hesitant steps. She now looks forward to therapy each day and walks quite a distance with her walker. She is able to use the restroom with assistance getting in and out of bed.
Our therapy department gave her a party one day and even bought her a necklace. She has not taken it off since her birthday. The facility gave her a party the next day, and her room was filled with balloons, flowers, staff, family and friends.

On October 11, 2011, we held our second annual Fall Festival. 400 people came and enjoyed the event.
We had over a dozen craft vendors, jump house for the kids, face painting, pumpkin painting, hair painting , horse rides, Lamas
In addition, German Township Fire Department brought a fire truck for everyone to go through.
We would like to Thank KISS Country Radio for the live remote!
The day was topped off by our Cow Chip Bingo event. We would like to Congratulate Crystal Huber on winning the $200 when she picked the right square that the cow “went on”.

EMPLOYEE IDOL
We named our Employee of the Month award "Villa Idol." Customers, residents and family members can
make confidential nominations. Department heads judge nominees on quality customer relations,
positive attitude and teamwork in addition to attendance and lack of disciplinary actions.
The employee receives a paid day off, 2 movie passes, a gift card, a designated parking spot for the
month, a free meal ticket. WE add their name to the Villa Idol plaque and display their picture in the lobby.

Ohio Q1 – Second Mile Winners
Will Duffield, RN is truly a special employee who I received several family letters from.
Will also visits many of his residents at home after their discharge to see how they are
doing and coming along. One family said: "That he is so special to every patient at the
facility. You find very few people like Will who has his level of compassion". Another
family wrote a thank you note to Villa stating: "Please extend a special thank you to Will
in whom we saw a genuine personal concern for Mary. Bless you all for what you have done!"
Another family wrote a thank you directly to Will at the facility stating: " I want to thank
you for the compassionate care and personal touch you have provided. Villa is very lucky to
have such a good nurse who is personal like yourself. You went beyond the call of duty for my
Mother. You made her stay a little easier."
Kay Jones, STNA has received several generous compliments from resident families and she
gives them that extra attention in her daily routine, She also donates a great deal of her
personal time to meet the needs of residents who do not have any family members or support in
the community. Kay mends all the resident cloths and also bakes the birthday cakes for the resident
birthday parties. One family states: "Kay goes way beyond her job duties making my mother comfortable
and at ease. When we first brought
