RESIDENT & FAMILY MEETINGS
The Los Altos Sub-Acute & Rehabilitation Center thinks that it is important to listen to each of our residents and family members and to look to them for ideas and suggestions on how we can improve our services. A suggestion box is located across from the reception desk in the front lobby. It is the goal of these council/support meetings to have residents and family members feel an active part of the decision making process within the facility.

RESIDENT COUNCIL
Resident council meetings are scheduled and held in the facility on a monthly basis. These council meetings can help plan and develop recreational activities scheduled in the facility as well as solicit ideas, complements and criticism. Resident council meetings are conducted under the direction of the activity director. Family members are invited to attend, if they desire. A written report of any suggestions is given to the Administrator for follow-up action. This report is also reviewed by the Quality Assurance Committee.

FAMILY NIGHT
Family Night is a meeting that is scheduled for the family members, as well as residents, with specific topics that are of interest to people in the facility. The Social Service Director schedules guest speakers that present information that can help the family members and residents to better understand areas of aging and living

in a facility. Dinner is served at each meeting, which is held the fourth Thursday of the month. If you have specific topics that you would like to hear more about, contact the Social Service Director.

FAMILY COUNCIL
These meetings, like Resident Council, serve to allow each family member to make suggestions and receive answers from the facility management These meetings are organized by resident's family members, specifically for all the family members. The facility supports these meetings through provision of the meeting room, telling the family members about the meetings, and providing refreshments.

FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP
The family support group helps to provide answers and support for family members who need to express feelings, need an understanding ear, need help in relation to there loved one's stay in the facility. The support group helps families to explore one's experiences of placing a loved one in a nursing facility and how to cope with one's own feelings and the effects of the placement.

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
The facility prints a newsletter that is mailed to each family member on a monthly basis. These newsletters provide family members, staff and residents with the current information on what events are occurring within the facility. Newsletter articles include, information on outings, birthdays, special programs and events, changes in facility policy, facility improvements being scheduled, and all sorts of other information. These newsletters help to keep everyone better informed of the changes and events occurring within the facility. If you wish additional family members to be put on the mailing list to receive the newsletter, please contact our receptionist.
