FAQs

We anticipate our families to have many questions and we do understand. Here are some of these Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the difference between Skilled Care and Intermediate care?
Skilled care includes nursing or rehabilitation therapies given by skilled health care personnel such as registered nurses, licensed practical and vocational nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and audiologists. These services are covered by Medicare Part A as long as you meet certain conditions. Intermediate care is mostly custodial in nature and usually is not covered by Medicare Part A.

What can I expect from nursing?
We have licensed registered nurses on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The charge nurses supervises a staff of certified nursing assistants (CNA's) who help patients with bathing, dressing, and meals. In addition, the CNA staff take daily vital signs; i.e., blood pressure, temperature, and pulse and report these to the charge nurse. Family members may also call the charge nurse at any time for a status report on a patient's medical condition. We are here to assist with the family's concerns as well as the patients.

Yes, but only with a physician order. Medicare A patients are the exception. Other patients need to be signed out by the responsible party at the nurse's station.
