Every Skilled Nursing
Facility (SNF) is required to operate within a strict set of guidelines
and regulations from the Department of Health (DOH). To determine compliance,
every SNF is visited unannounced by a group of DOH personnel whose responsibility
includes methodical inspections of activities that may demonstrate irregularities
outside of a normal SNF operations. This visit is called a "survey"
or a State Inspection.
We at Downey Care Center are very proud of our
survey results and post them at each nurse's station and in the lobby next to the communication board with
easy access for our residents, family members, visitors and surveyors. This
information is also available for your review at the Medicare web site located
at www.medicare.gov. The survey results will provide you with one tool to
evaluate a nursing facility. However, since the survey is unable to measure
the quality of care, we always recommend a personal visit to our facility
to help you understand the dedication and mission of our staff who will
be providing the day to day care to your loved one. The aroma of cookies
in the oven or homemade soup is ever present from our dietary department.
We invite you to come in for a formal tour or
just look around and find out what sets us apart from other skilled nursing
facilities. |
