Every skilled nursing facility(SNF) is required to operate within a strict set of guidelines and regulations set forth by both state and federal governments. To determine compliance, every SNF is visited unannounced by a group of Department of Health personnel whose responsibilities includes methodical and unbiased inspections of each facility; or if needed, extended investigations of activities that may demonstrate irregularities outside of "normal" SNF operations. Depending on the severity of deficiency findings from this visit, a SNF can be cited, penalized and required to comply, or to the extent of the law, may be ordered to cease, temporarily or permanently, its business operations. Findings for each facility are located in a well marked public areas within a SNF to inspect findings. We are proud of our survey history and welcome the public to inquire.

Clinton House Health and Rehabilitation Center is consistently rated among the best in the state according to the Indiana Department of Health's annual survey of all nursing home facilities. Clinton House continues to remain Deficiency Free in Nursing Care and was also voted the #1 long-term care facility in Clinton County for 2009.

Some important points to consider when selecting a nursing home:
  • Be prepared. Don't wait until there is crisis. Visit several different providers to compare services.
  • Be realistic about health care needs. This is often difficult since one's inclination is to minimize problems as aging occurs.
  • Be realistic about the environment. Beautiful surroundings and amenities are only part of the picture. Examine how the provider meets your personal interests, life style preferences, religious and health care needs.
  • Understand the limitations of the provider. In the scope of the services that can be legally provided.

  • Do the residents appear comfortable, well groomed and involved in meaningful activities?
