Rehabilitation Services

Carson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is proud to present our Homeward Bound Program. Homeward Bound is short term rehabilitation which focuses on addressing the specific needs of each patient. Treatment programs are individualized in order to allow our patients to reach their maximum potential. Family involvement in the rehabilitation process is encouraged. We believe that family support and education are vital aspects in providing excellence in care and assisting the patient to maximize functional ability and independence.

Our therapy team includes physical, occupational and speech therapists.

PHYSICAL THERAPY focuses on the identification, prevention and rehabilitation of individuals with physical impairment and pain. Following evaluation, the physical therapist develops an individualized treatment program to address lower extremity and trunk strength and range of motion, balance, coordination, functional movement, ambulation, endurance and pain reduction.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY addresses activities of daily living skills, including eating, dressing, hygiene, and home management tasks. They also provide treatment interventions for upper extremity function, cognition, perception and community reintegration.

SPEECH/LANGUAGE THERAPISTS provide a continuum of services including assessment, education and treatment of patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing problems. Treatment programs are directed towards improving communication skills in the areas of comprehension and expression. Patients admitted to the facility that are receiving nutrition partially or exclusively via gastrostomy tube are evaluated for their potential to return to solid foods as appropriate.

Carson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center believes in combining cutting edge technology with proven therapeutic programs to improve patient outcomes, decrease length of stay and facilitate achievement of a maximal level of independence. Specialized treatment programs developed by ACP (Accelerated Care Plus) are utilized in order to treat a full spectrum of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. ACP provides state of the art physical agent modalities and equipment, evidence-based protocols and ongoing training for our therapists in order to improve outcomes and maximize function for our patient population. At Carson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center our therapist use ACP’s Ultrasound, Short wave diathermy, Electrical stimulation, Patterned Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation and the Omnicycle (upper and lower body system of exercise and biofeedback) to enhance the effectiveness obtained with traditional therapeutic techniques.
