"I can not compare Pacific Coast Manor to any other facility in this area but this is an exceptional rehabilitation center. It is obvious the minute one walks through the doors that cleanliness, genuine concern for patients, and high quality professional service is a priority here. I can not emphasize enough how caring the employees are. This is a busy facility yet each person takes time to ensure that patient needs are met. Those who work here, without exception, are some of the most kind hearted people I have ever met. If you ever have the need for a rehabilitation facility in the Santa Cruz County area you should look first to Pacific Coast Manor."

"Thank you, everyone at PCM for the skill and kindness you showed my Mom while she was in your care. PCM was referred by medical professionals as the #1 care facility in the area. I agree wholeheartedly. Dr. Vu, Lisa (Manager) the nursing staff and assistants, dietician, physical and occupational therapists - 5 stars across the board. The place is spotlessly clean. The staff are fully engaged and seem genuinely happy to be there. No bad vibes. Staff are busy but not overwhelmed. Seems like just about the right mix of staffing across the board. Thanks again to all at PCM."

"I spend a lot of time at Pacific Coast Manor because a family member is a long term care patient there. Most of the staff seem like they are actually happy to be at work, and I appreciate the generally upbeat, positive atmosphere. I'm giving 5 stars because I think everyone's heart is in the right place, which goes a long way."

"I was recently a post-op patient at Pacific Coast Manor for almost two weeks and I cannot say enough about the quality of care. The staff is compassionate, well-chosen and always there to help. Everyone from Admissions, to Discharge, to Dietary, to Physical Therapy, is on the ball. There was never a moment when my needs were not met with a smile. I highly recommend this facility. The nurses and aides are beyond reproach and it was a delight to get to know them...."

"I was able to place my 85-year-old Japanese Mother who is suffering from gastric cancer at PCM for a 5-day respite for me. She was so reluctant to go and wanted to stay home by herself even though she knew how dangerous that was due to her recent falls and confusion at times. I just can't rave how pleased I was with the whole transaction. When I first walked in, I was impressed with the upscale, clean look. It reminded me of a hotel lobby. The first thing I noticed too was NO nursing home odor! Then I met with Lisa at admissions who was very friendly and professional. The whole staff made my mom feel so comfortable and at ease. They went out of their way to get my mom involved with the social activities since her English is so limited. Even the Executive Administrator, Marise, checked in with Mom and made her feel at home. Now that Mom's back home she talks about how she felt like she was on vacation there and actually wants to move there full time! I will not hesitate when the time comes for that. Quite a turnaround for someone who didn't want to go!"

"PCM is a top notch Rehab facility. My husband suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on January 31, 2014. After a month at a local Hospital, three weeks at acute rehab there, he then was transferred to PCM. The care was great, his techs being clued in on his personal needs. The therapies have worked wonders, bringing him around to all possibilities, walking alone before he left their care. He received daily physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. While all functions have not yet returned (I was told it would take months) he is getting there. It works!!! Dr. V, the medical director, happens to be our primary care physician, so his daily input was a big help. Many Kudos to a hard working staff!!!"

I had to be admitted to PCM 2x last year during chemo treatments I had really bad reactions to the chemo was unable to walk and care for myself everyone at PCM took such great care of me everyone there was wonderful physical therapy was able to teach me how to walk again an OT was able to teach me how to take care of myself again I spent 2 months there and all the nurses and aids were wonderful if I ever need to go to a nursing home again there is no place I would rather be the PCM thank you for taking such great care of me while I was there I love all the staff the food was good and activities were fun.
I was there for about a month. Happy hours, bingo, healed super fast, and the food - can I mention prime rib, lobster bisque, daily homemade soups; love the fish and well-cooked vegetables? And the staff, they are the best. Love this place, I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed

"Several people who had been patients there recommended Pacific Coast Manor to me. They could only say how well staff treated them. Parking was sometimes a drawback, but I found this to be a greater problem at five of the best-rated nursing homes. Pacific Coast Manor has the best overall rating of all of those in Santa Cruz County, five stars. The staff treated me with complete professionalism, friendliness, compassion, and care during my five and a half weeks stay there. I wept as I was leaving there, knowing that I would miss all the friends I had made, but going home made me happiest of all."

PCM is well run, bright, friendly, and professional. My 88-year-old mom went to Pacific Coast Manor in December 2013 after a fall and went back in April 2014 after back surgery. Both times PT got her strong and able to walk again with a walker and she returned home where she lives independently. Dr. V was amazing in that he had new ideas with medication never considered before. I sensed the staff genuinely cared for my mom as evident in the time they took to listen to her. Many times the staff ate their lunch with my mom in the sunny courtyard. The staff met my mom's needs and requests quicker and timelier than I even expected of them. Patients are treated with dignity. My mom and I are very thankful for PCM!"
"I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen. They are one of the most respectful, attentive staffs I've ever seen anywhere. I've never seen them take personal phone calls while helping patients, and they always make sure each patient has everything they need. The staff was truly one of the best staffs I've ever seen. They genuinely care about everyone who visits. They were able to answer every single one of my questions in-detail, and were only a phone call away if I thought of any more questions later on."
Dear Pacific Coast Manor Staff:
In response to your recent survey; this letter is also a belated thank you for the high quality care provided while dealing with my mother, Margaret B., who was a resident at your facility in the fall of 2009. I was very impressed with your staff and facility both- sunny and clean. The folks at PCM are truly patient advocates. My mother was well cared for and clearly benefitted from the daily physical therapy and general positive atmosphere. Today, my mother is back in her home with her cat. I highly recommend your facility to my patients as well as my mother.

To Whom It May Concern:
This is in reference to Pacific Coast Manor Capitola, California. I would like to relate my experiences at the facility and impressions of the staff.
My contact with Pacific Coast Manor has been through monthly rounds as an attending physician from 1993-2006 and as a patient family member who made daily visits the last two months. Based on these observations, I have found PCM to be the best skilled nursing facility in the county of Santa Cruz. The admission personnel are extremely attentive and efficient. The nursing staff are exceptionally caring and professional. Physical, occupational and speech therapists are absolutely top notch. The dietician keeps in touch and makes helpful suggestions. The social worker makes every effort to meet patient and family needs. The activities coordinator goes the extra mile to make life more enjoyable for all residents. Even the housekeepers enter the room with a kind word and smile. In every instance, special requests were received graciously and acted upon in an expeditious manner.
To sum up, when my 99 year old grandmother required skilled nursing care and rehabilitation after recent acute care for a hip fracture, Pacific Coast Manor was my first choice. My observations and experiences the last two months have only served to increase my admiration and respect for all the cohesive, expert and loving staff.
